The book publisher Bentang Pustaka will publish Otono Yomoji’s duology light novels To Every You I’ve Loved Before and To Me, the One Who Loved You in Indonesia. Bentang Pustaka is currently opening pre-orders for To Every You I’ve Loved Before on their social media, started from 5 February to 14 February 2024. The accompanying novel, To Me, the One Who Loved You will be released later in March 2024.
To Every You I’ve Loved Before and To Me, the One Who Loved You are set in a world where people regularly travel between slightly different parallel worlds. The novels centred on the relationship between three protagonists: Koyomi Takasaki, Kazune Takigawa, and Shiori Satou. In Japan, the novels are released on the same day and are designed to be read in any order, giving the reader a different experience depending on the order they read the novels.
To Every You I’ve Loved Before follows Koyomi Takasaki, a boy who lives with his mother after his parents’ divorce. Due to his serious nature, he has trouble making friends in highschool… until one day, his classmate, Kazune Takigawa, claims that they’re in a relationship. To his surprise, Koyomi has moved to a parallel world where he and Kazune are dating. In a world where shifting between slightly different parallel worlds is considered a normal occurrence, her claims don’t sound too unbelievable, but does a world where both of them are in love exist?
The other novel, To Me, the One Who Loved You, follows the alternate version of Koyomi. In this version, he lives with his father after his parent’s divorce. This version of Koyomi falls in love with Shiori Sato, a girl he met in his father’s workplace. Unfortunately, it turns out that Koyomi’s father will marry Shiori’s mother. Because of this, Koyomi and Shiori escape to the parallel world where they are not stepsiblings. However, their action led to a dire consequence.
According to their Japanese publisher Hayakawa Publishing, both novels have sold more than 240.000 copies combined. The novels also have been translated into various languages like Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, and English. Just like the novels, To Every You I’ve Loved Before and To Me, the One Who Loved You animated feature adaptations premiered simultaneously in Japan on 14 September 2022.
