On 21 July 2024, Gowa Geophysical Station introduced its newly “recruited” social media division staff, Shinna. She is a Virtual Staff that debuted on the same day as the 77th anniversary of Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Day (or MKG Day).
Shinna will help the station by conveying information about weather, climate, earthquakes, or other geophysical situations to the station’s social media followers. Indonesian illustrator Venera Airo is credited for Shinna’s design.
Gowa Geophysical Station is a meteorology, climatology, and geophysics station that covers the South Celebes area and its surroundings. Located in Gowa, South Celebest, the station is a branch of the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the Indonesian non-department government agency that focuses on studying the meteorology, climate, and geophysical phenomena in Indonesia.
