From 18 October to 3 November 2024, Multi Toys and Bandai Spirits held a Gundam Plastic Model or Gunpla event in Indonesia. Titled Bandai Spirits Hobby Exhibition 2024, the event was held at the Fun Atrium, Lotte Mall Shopping Avenue Kuningan, South Jakarta. It featured various grades of Gunpla models released by Bandai, from Entry Grade, High Grade, Real Grade, Master Grade, and Perfect Grade.
Road to GBWC 2024
Besides the Gunpla exhibition, the event also held the Gunpla Builders World Cup (GBWC) 2024 Indonesian Qualifier, an annual event for Gunpla builders to exhibit their Gunpla modification works. In the competition, those Gunpla builders showed their creativity by exhibiting their best works. Some builders tried to recreate the scene from anime with their models, while others just went wild and created a new arrangement.
The Appearance of Ernest Prakasa
Indonesian stand-up comedian Ernest Prakasa also visited the event on the first day. Ernest himself acknowledged that he liked playing and assembling Gunpla during his free time. Right now, he uses Gunpla to bond with his son. He usually builds the more intricate Master Grade Gunplay, while his son builds the simpler ones. However, he had no plans to turn his passion for Gunpla into a creative career.
Plenty of Activities, from Shopping to Assembling
As Bandai’s partner in this event, Multi Toys opened their booth to showcase various Gunplay from different grades. Additionally, their booth also showcased non-Gundam plamodel (plastic model) products, like Figure-rise Standards from the Pokemon, Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and other series. There is also a free Gunpla assembling class for visitors, which can be entered by registering at the booth.
