Synopsis
Beryl, a middle-aged swordsman who has given up to be a great swordsman, now runs a swordsman dojo in the countryside. However, his quiet life as an instructor is suddenly disrupted when his parent requests him to give them at least one grandchild and a coincidence that he’s now being asked to be an official instructor for the kingdom knight. Suddenly he now needed to live in a city and an ultimatum from his parents that he should never come back to the dojo until he has given a child.

To be frank, when I saw the anime poster, honestly I thought it was a Mushoku Tensei anime. Putting that aside, after looking closer at the title, turns out it’s a fantasy anime with a premise of a middle-aged man. This reminds me of The Ossan Newbie Adventurer Trained to Death by the Most Powerful Party Became Invincible anime, where both anime focus on a middle-aged man with seems like he has a secret admirer who is a girl younger than him, plus they do not realise their skill and capability. With that, after watching the first episode, the anime seems to show a promising story and even a great animation. My eyes were awed by the opening song animation, whereas the transition is so smooth and the drawing was great. It feels like a solid fantasy anime, even feels like a Mushoku Tensei anime.
The animation keeps getting better when the anime shows the sword battle scene where the anime managed to balance out a good combination of 3D and 2D animation. Even if I don’t like 3D parts when they’re too noticeable, this anime managed to make sure that the 3D part was more there to support the complicated movement, which really feels like a solid animation because the transition between 3D and 2D is quite good. Same case with the visualization of the world, I must say this is really a good and livable fantasy world, it even looks like a good wallpaper that you can just use. The story, although it has a weird premise, seems like it might be a good one because the narrative doesn’t really feel like it’s being rushed, everything is being introduced slowly. Hence, seems like for me this will be another anime that I would really like to watch weekly.
