Indonesian developer Mankibo and US-based game publisher Akupara Games have officially released Montabi on 6 August 2026. The game is now available for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.com, as well as on consoles like Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Montabi is a creature-collector roguelike deckbuilder that combines Slay the Spire deckbuilding gameplay with Mega Man Battle Network’s turn-based positioning and Pokémon’s monster-taming aspect. In this game, the player will tame monsters, build powerful decks, and save the city from evil. In the game, players will assemble a team of Montabi and engage in turn-based battles on a 3×3 grid system.
Here’s the list of Montabi‘s features on their website:
-
Build your Montabi team
Each Montabi has a unique set of cards, giving you endless combinations for team synergies every run.
-
Evolve and draft new cards
As your Montabi level up, they evolve into more powerful forms, gaining new cards and expanding your tactical options.
-
Outsmart your opponents on the grid
Positioning is key! Deploy your best strategies to beat up the bad guys in a unique 3×3 grid-based system.
-
Choose your Trainer
Select from diverse trainers, each with a unique playstyle. Like the king in chess, the game ends if the trainer is defeated.
The game was first announced in 2025. Its initial demo launched in June 2025, followed by a major update in November of the same year. In March, the developer also launched a time-limited open beta for the game, allowing players to try the upcoming title ahead of its full release.
