On Thursday (20/8), Ani-One announced that the Chainsmoker Cat anime is no longer available on any of Ani-One’s YouTube channels. According to the announcement, the series had been removed to comply with local government regulations in relevant markets.

As of 21 August 2026, Chainsmoker Cat has been taken down from all Ani-One YouTube channels, including Ani-One Asia, Ani-One Indonesia, and Ani-One Thailand.

Previously, on Monday (17/8), it was reported that the anime had been removed from a streaming platform in Hong Kong. The series was taken down after concerns that it violated Hong Kong’s laws regarding advertisements for smoking products.

The story of Chainsmoker Cat follows Yaniko, a completely degenerate catgirl living in a modern Japanese apartment building who is profoundly addicted to cigarettes. Despite her sister’s and friends’ desperate attempts to help her quit, pay her rent, or hold down a temporary job, Yaniko’s absolute lack of willpower repeatedly drags her back to the tobacco habit, leading to bizarrely gross and ridiculous misadventures.
