Indonesian comics publisher Elex Media Komputindo will publish Tatsuya Endo‘s Spy x Family manga in Indonesia. The first volume is scheduled to be released on 14 October 2020 and will retail for IDR 45,000 (about US$ 3.05).
Elex Media’s synopsis of the manga describes the story as follows:
The super spy with a thousand faces, Twilight has never failed to carry out his missions amidst the conflict between the neighbouring countries of Westalis and Ostania.
His latest mission is unlike what he has done before, though. The only way to approach the extremely cautious politician Donovan Desmond is through infiltrating his son’s school.
In haste, the usually solitary Twilight puts together a (phoney) family with an orphan girl named Anya as (phoney) daughter and an ordinary civil servant named Yor as (phoney) wife.
The phoney couple brought together by their own interests are not aware of each other’s secret identities: that the husband is a spy and the wife is a fearsome assassin.
Only the telepathic daughter knows it all, and she goes along for the fun.
Endo has serialized Spy x Family on Shueisha’s Shounen Jump+ website and app since March 2019, and the English version is also released simultaneously on Shueisha’s Manga Plus website and app. The manga has also been collected into five tankoubon volumes at the time of this writing, with over 5.5 million copies in circulation, both in print and e-book formats. The manga has also won various acclaims, including Best Manga for Men in 2020 edition of Takarajimasha’s annual manga reference Kono Manga ga Sugoi!, 2020 Tsutaya Comic Award, second place in 2020 Manga Taishou award for new comic series (still under eight volumes), and nominations for the 44th Kodansha Manga Award and Tezuka Osamu Cultural Award.
Elex Media Komputindo is a comics publisher under the Kompas-Gramedia Group. The publisher releases licensed foreign comics, including manga, and also Indonesian comics. Since 2005, Elex Media also published comics that intended for adult audiences under the new imprint called Level Comics.
