After the first Love Live! Nijigasaki anime announcement, many thought the main character Yuu isn’t really a genki (cheerful, high spirit) type of character. The first episode proves otherwise. Yuu is a really enthusiastic girl. What unique is that Yuu’s role here isn’t as an idol, but the manager of the idol group who takes care of members and composes their song. Her role could be the representation of the player of the game. In the video game, the player also takes a role as the manager of the group.
In the first episode, we can see how Yuu becomes interested in school idol. It starts when Yuu watches Setsuna Yuki’s singing performance. Setsuna’s performance of the song Chase is animated really well and we can see how Yuu becomes captured by it.
The premise is a little bit different from previous Love Live! anime. Rather than saving their school, Love Live! Nijigasaki focuses on how the characters try to rebuild the club after it has been disbanded. The story structure also has some differences. The previous Love Live! anime begin with a group performance. Here, it begins with a solo performance from a character. The characters, including Ayumu, sings their own character songs. It will be interesting to see how the story unfold, as it starts differently compared to previous Love Live! anime.
