On Monday (15/8), Bandung-based game developer Crescent Sun announced the full release of Eremidia – Archivist’s Curse. Published by YSY Softworks, The game is currently free to play on their Steam page.

Eremidia – Archivist’s Curse is a strategic turn-based RPG with a grid-based system. The player will control a character who is trapped in the Hall of Pawnsmoor, a dangerous section located inside The Great Library. To escape, the player needs to defeat the hall’s current proprietor, The Chessmaster. Enter the library’s Dark Alley and find companions who will help you defeat The Chessmaster.

Here are the game features listed on their Steam page:

  • Two game modes: Chessmaster Match, where your mettle is tested; and Dark Alley, where you explore the Great Library for resources and unlockable companion pieces. It has its own tutorial segments, separated from the main game modes, too.
  • Grid Battle System; fight various enemies on a chess-like battlefield. A slow tactic-like battle mechanics that emphasize position and proper abilities usage, since the battlefield can be affected by any present pieces.
  • Dozens of unique, playable companions; each can be promoted to unlock their potentials to the fullest. Each comes with its share of lore that explains their backgrounds, abilities, and characteristics.
  • Dozens of enemies to take on, including hidden bosses and a series of enemy compilations present in the Chessmaster Match.
  • Crafting equipment, with unlockable recipes either from Dark Alley and every match you win against the Chessmaster.

Eremidia – Archivist’s Curse is a part of the Eremidia Chronicles Project. The project was a collaborative effort within the Indonesian RPG Makers Community, RMID, to create an indie multimedia universe under their own umbrella project. Under that project, the community members have created their own work, which includes video games, webtoons, and many other media.

The project is eventually abandoned in 2015 after the community is dissolved. However, It was revived again in 2017 by a community member under the name of richter_h. Since then, richter_h published the earlier version of the Eremidia – Archivist’s Curse in itch.io, before releasing it on Steam.
