The film festival event Japanese Film Festival (JFF) Online 2024 from The Japan Foundation will begin on 5 June 2024. The event will present 23 Japanese films and 2 TV drama series in Indonesia for free and can be watched for free online.
Other than films and TV drama series screen, The Japan Foundation will also hold an online watch party event hosted by two Hololive IDÂ Vtubers, Airani Iofifteen (Iofi) and Ayunda Risu. The watch party event with Iofi will be held on 7 June 2024 at 1900 Western Indonesian Times (WIT), while Risu’s watch party event will be held on 12 June 2024 at 1900 WIT. Both watch party events will be held on the respective Vtuber’s YouTube channel.

The Japan Foundation will also hold offline watch party events in Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Palembang, and Makassar. The offline watch party event will feature discussion sessions with filmmakers, academics, and psychologists who will give their perspectives on the film.
The Japan Foundation will also invite the scriptwriter for My Broken Mariko!, Kousuke Mukai to hold an online seminar titled Behind the Script: My Broken Mariko with MUKAI Kosuke. Mukai is known as the scriptwriter of films such as Linda, Linda, Linda (2005), A MAN (2022), and some episodes of the Midnight Diner drama series. The seminar will be held via Zoom on 12 June 2024.
Just like the previous year, the organizer also held various complementary events for JFF Online 2024 from the merchandise hunt, review challenge, and live quiz session that will be held on Instagram during the event.
