Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain tells the story of Asa and Kame, the new maids who are working in the Oo-oku. Asa comes because she wants to hone her talents, while Kame comes because she admires Oo-oku and hopes to stay there. But since the first day, Asa and Kame were asked to participate in a mysterious ceremony, where they have to give “something precious” to Omizu-sama.
Utayama, who manages the maids in Oo-oku, seems to be hiding something. Meanwhile, strange events begin to haunt Asa and Kame. As the mysteries pile up, the terrible and heartbreaking truth hidden in Oo-oku is slowly revealed.
