As previously reported, Japanese publisher Kadokawa will hold the World Manga OnSITE Portfolio Review programme at Comic Paradise 7 (Comipara 7). The programme is part of the Kadokawa World Manga Atelier (KWMA) initiative and will allow creators to have their comic portfolios reviewed in person by Kadokawa manga editors from Japan.
The company will participate in Comipara 7 through its official booth, Booth X-03, on 17–18 October 2026 at Jogja Expo Center, Yogyakarta. Participation in the portfolio review is free, but visitors must enter the Comipara 7 event.
But how can Indonesian aspiring comic artists join this OnSITE Portfolio Review? In this article, the KAORI Nusantara team will explain how to register and participate in the programme.
1. Prepare Your Comic Portfolio
The first step is to prepare the comic work that you want to have reviewed by the KADOKAWA editors.
Creators can bring their best comic works to receive direct feedback on their portfolios, as well as guidance on comic production and opportunities to make a professional debut in the Japanese manga industry.
One important requirement is that the submitted comic manuscript must be written in either English or Japanese.
2. Register Online
Pre-registration for the OnSITE Portfolio Review is open from 14 September to 10 October 2026 through the official KADOKAWA website at this link.
Creators who want to participate should complete their registration during this period before attending Comipara 7.
3. Attend Comipara 7
After registering, participants can attend the KADOKAWA booth at Comipara 7.
The event will be held on 17–18 October 2026 at Jogja Expo Center, Yogyakarta. Admission to Comipara 7 costs IDR 50,000, with tickets available online through the YesPlis platform at this link.
4. Visit KADOKAWA’s Booth
Once at the event, head to Booth X-03, where KADOKAWA will hold the OnSITE Portfolio Review.
The portfolio review sessions will be available from 10.00 to 18.00 West Indonesian Time (GMT+7), with the last entry at 17.30 West Indonesian Time. On-site staff will provide communication support in Indonesian, English, and Japanese.
5. Get Feedback From KADOKAWA Editors
During the session, participants will have the opportunity to receive direct, in-person feedback on their comic portfolios from KADOKAWA manga editors from Japan.
The editors will also provide guidance on comic-making and information about opportunities to pursue a professional debut in the Japanese manga industry.
In addition to the portfolio review, KADOKAWA World Manga Editorial Team Chief Editor Noboru Segawa will hold a talk session on the Main Stage of Comipara 7 on 18 October from 14.30 to 15.30 West Indonesian Time.
The session will introduce the KADOKAWA WORLD MANGA CONTEST, while also discussing important aspects of comic creation from an editor’s perspective, and will include an interactive question-and-answer session.
Comipara is an Indonesian comic and creative industry event held twice a year in Yogyakarta, focusing on comics, webtoons, and related creative products. The event features various programmes involving creators and circles from the local creative community.
The first Comic Paradise was held on 18–19 November 2023 at the LPP Auditorium, Yogyakarta. From its second edition onwards, the event has been held at the Jogja Expo Center.
