Winter 2021 Anime: Non Non Biyori Nonstop

Synopsis

Third season of Non Non Biyori. The place is Asahigaoka, a village where there’s only one school with only five students, each of them are in different grades. One day, as the school ends, the students try to kill their time by playing dolls made from plastic tape. On another day, Renge gets a new high school friend and they train to play music together. Nonetheless, it is still the usual quiet and peaceful days in Asahigaoka.

Non Non Biyori had been a go to series when you really want to get rid of your stress from work or study and just relax watching some villagers having fun. And it is good to see them back after two years since the premiere of Non Non Biyori Vacation. The opening scene, which shows the quiet scenery of the village with the nostalgic background music revives the memory of Asahigaoka once again. And then Renge appears with her usual catchphrase: nyanpasu!

Overall, it is still the same Non Non Biyori like you’d see in 2013 if you have seen it back then. The animation is still produced at Silver Link, the character design pretty much looks the same, and even the opening song is still performed by nano.RIPE while the ending song is sung by all of the main characters. However, the similarity is what makes this series is good. Seeing something unchanged is nice when it is used for a comfy story like this. It also makes me feel nostalgic while watching Ren-chon playing with Natsumi and friends.

So, even after eight years has passed since the first episode of Non Non Biyori aiedr, it is still your best choice if you want to watch a relaxing story about a bunch of village kids playing together. It heals your heart, really.
