On Tuesday (29/3), Elex Media announced that they has licensed the prequel manga of the Jujutsu Kaisen series, Jujutsu Kaisen 0. On their social media, Elex Media editors stated that the manga is currently in translation process. More information about the price and the exact publishing date are not announced yet.

The original Jujutsu Kaisen manga tells the story of Yuji Itadori, a student who lives in a world where negative energy called Curse can bring disaster to the world. Itadori’s life changed as he becomes a student at a school that trains Curse exterminators. The manga is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump since March 2018 and received an anime adaptation that began airing in October 2020. In Indonesia, the manga has been published by Elex Media Komputindo since January 2021.

The prequel manga tells the story of Yuta Okkotsu, a high school student who is haunted by a Curse of his childhood friend Rika. Fortunately, his problem is noticed by Satoru Gojo, who convinced Yuta to enrol on a school where fledging exorcists learn how to combat curses. The prequel manga was originally published in Shueisha’s Jump GIGA from April 28 to July 28, 2017. Later, it was republished as a single tankōbon volume on December 4, 2018.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 has also been adapted into an animated film, which is premiered in Japan on December 24, 2021. In Indonesian cinema, the film has been premiered on March 16, 2022, after a series of early screening events from March 13 to 15, 2022. The Indonesian screening of the film has been quite successful. According to the distributor Feat Pictures, the film is already watched by 746,000 viewers in 15 days after its premiere date.

Elex Media Komputindo is an Indonesian comics publisher under the Kompas-Gramedia Group. The publisher releases licensed foreign comics, including manga, and also Indonesian comics. Since 2005, Elex Media also published comics that were intended for adult audiences under the new imprint called Level Comics.
