On Thursday (8/12), Indonesian book publisher Elex Media Komputindo posted a list of their November 2022 best-selling comics. Blue Lock volume 6 takes first place, followed by Dr. Slump and Komi Sulit Berkomunikasi volume 14 in second and third place.

Written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura, the story of Blue Lock begin with Japan’s elimination from the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The elimination prompts the Japan Football Union to start a program called Blue Lock, which isolates 300 young forwards and puts them through rigorous training to create “the world’s greatest egoistic striker”. The manga has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine since August 2018, while an anime adaptation started its broadcast in the fall 2022 season, aligned with FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
Dr. Slump is a manga written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama. The story started when Senbei Norimaki created a humanoid robot named Arale Norimaki and they go on a journey. Dr. Slump was serialized in Shueisha’s anthology magazine Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1980 to 1984, which was collected into 18 tankoubon volumes in total.
Written and illustrated by Tomohito Oda, Komi Sulit Berkomunikasi tells the story of Shouko Komi, a 15-years old high school girl who is regarded as the prettiest girl at school. She’s known as a cool beauty. However, her classmate Hitohito Tadano knows the truth: Komi’s actually bad at communication. The manga has been serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shounen Sunday magazine since May 2016. It was originally published as a one-shot in Shin Sedai Sunday Grand Prix in 2015 before getting serialized.
Elex Media Komputindo is a comics publisher under the Kompas-Gramedia Group. The publisher releases licensed foreign comics, including manga and Indonesian comics. Since 2005, Elex Media also published comics that were intended for adult audiences under the new imprint called Level Comics.
