Synopsis

These two men have never failed an assignment as partnered assassins, but they might be taking on their greatest challenge yet: raising a 4-year-old girl. So begins the family life of two dashing men and an innocent girl. But between cooking meals, playtime, and taking her to school, will the challenge of raising a child prove too much for them? Even so, they’re professionals that won’t turn down a job. To complicate things, the girl is the illegitimate daughter of a nefarious mob boss they just took out! Is it really possible to balance work and child-rearing? And will our temporary family be able to find happiness?

On a completely normal day for Kazuki and Rei as assassins, they received another mission. It was a mission to assassinate a shady businessman in a 5-star hotel. But everything went south when Miri, the target’s illegitimate daughter, caught them in the act. As she is an uncontrolled variable, they decided to improvise to carry out the mission. Yet because of it, and weighed by his trauma and past longing, Kazuki became brash in handling the situation. In the end, he decides to take responsibility along with Rei for their actions, and takes in Miri. Even though they have no idea about childcare, let alone parenting.

The first episode of Buddy Daddies presents a series of cause and effect. Their current situation comes from a series of unfortunate events. Everything our assassin duo prepares get blown out of the calculation when Miri shows up, and the built-up tension explodes into an amazing action scene. I thought the show would feature the contrasting setting between their home and work life, like how would our duo juggle between what’s happening in their home life and the mission itself? But turns out it’s actually about two guys clumsily trying (not) to take care of a little girl. It’s interesting in its own way, and I’m invested in how the story will continue.
