On Friday (10/2), book publisher Elex Media Komputindo announced that the first volume of Samurai 8: The Tale of Hachimaru and Aku no Hana: Kembang Jahanam will be available in Indonesian bookstores on 22 February 2023. Samurai 8: The Tale of Hachimaru comes with a suggested retail price of IDR 45,000 (about US$ 3.00), while Aku no Hana: Kembang Jahanam comes with a suggested retail price of IDR 50,000 (about US$ 3.29).

Samurai 8: The Tale of Hachimaru tells the story of Hachimaru, a weak boy who dreams to become a samurai. That dream seemed impossible but everything changes when a samurai cat appears in his life. The manga is written and storyboarded by Masashi Kishimoto (Naruto) with illustrations by Akira Okubo. It was published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from May 2019 to March 2020. It is also available in Shueisha’s digital comic platform MANGA Plus in English and Spanish language.
Written and illustrated by Shuzo Oshimi, Aku no Hana: Kembang Jahanam tells the story about middle school student Takao Kasuga who is forced into a “contract” by fellow student Sawa Nakamura, after being caught stealing the gym clothes of his crush Nanako Saeki. The manga was serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine from September 2009 to May 2014. The manga was also adapted into anime in April 2013, with the animation handled by Zexcs.
Elex Media Komputindo is a comics publisher under the Kompas-Gramedia Group. The publisher releases licensed foreign comics, including manga, and also Indonesian comics. Since 2005, Elex Media also published comics that are intended for adult audiences under the new imprint called Level Comics.
