On Thursday (21/11), CBI Pictures announced on their social media that The Colors Within will be screened in Indonesia. CGV Cinemas and Cinepolis Indonesia have confirmed the film will be shown in their theatres, with the film’s premiere scheduled for 4 December 2024.
The Colors Within is the latest anime film from Studio Science SARU and Naoko Yamada, the director of A Silent Voice and Liz and the Blue Bird. This film initially premiered in Japanese theatres on 30 August 2024. It has since been screened in the Annecy International Animation Festival and won the Golden Goblet Award for Best Animation Film at the 2024 Shanghai International Film Festival.
The Colors Within tells the story of Totsuko, a girl with synesthesia who can see people as colours. She particularly loves the colours of her classmate, Kimi, who she thinks gives off the most beautiful colours of all. The chance encounter of Totsuko, Kimi and a music-loving boy called Rui leads the three of them to form a band together while trying to find their “true colours” in the process.
Other than Naoko Yamada as director, other notable staffs in this film include Reiko Yoshida (K-On!, Girls und Panzer Violet Evergarden) who handles the script and Kensuke Ushio (Space Dandy, A Silent Voice, Liz and the Blue Bird) as the music composer. Mr. Children performed the theme song for this movie, titled In the Pocket.
