As previously reported, Violet Evergarden: The Movie has been confirmed to be released in Indonesia. On 28 January 2021, Feat Pictures confirmed through its official social media that the film will be screened in Indonesia on 3 March 2021. Feat Pictures also plans to hold a special screening event in February 2021. This special screening program is planned to be held in Jakarta, Bandung and Yogyakarta

Adapted from a novel by Kana Akatsuki, the anime series of Violet Evergarden tells the story of Violet Evergarden, an ex-soldier who becomes a ghostwriter for those who can’t express their own feelings into letters. The anime series aired from January to April 2018, followed by one OVA that released in the same year and a spin-off film that released in September 2019. The spin-off film, Violet Evergarden: Eternity and The Auto Memories Doll has also been screened in Indonesia. Brought by Feat Pictures and Purple Plan, it began screening in Indonesia in January 2020 and reached 25,000 viewers in 5 days.
Violet Evergarden the Movie will tell the story of Violet Evergarden who still try to cope with the death of Gilbert Bougainvillea, the man she holds dearest. One day, Violet receives a clue that Gilbert may be alive. Is it really Gilbert? Will Violet embarks on a journey to find him? Or should she just let the past go?
This would be the eighth work from Kyoto Animation to be screened in Indonesia. In addition to previous Violet Evergarden spin-off film, other Kyoto Animation’s films that have been screened in Indonesia are Tamako -Love Story- (limited screening at Japanese Film Festival in 2015), A Silent Voice (general release in 2017), the two Free! Timeless Medley films (general and limited screening in 2018), Free! Take Your Marks (limited screening in 2018), and Chunibyo Demo Koi ga Shitai: Take on Me (screened in 2018).
