After teasing the title in February 2020, Indonesian comic book publisher Elex Media Komputindo has revealed that the first volume of Gokushufudo manga will be released on August 5, 2020. The series will be published under Elex Media’s mature comics imprint Level Comics with the title Gokushufudo – The Way of Househusband. The manga will be printed on bookpaper and have the retail price of IDR 40,000 (about US$ 2.75).
Gokushufudo – The Way of Househusband is a manga series by Kousuke Oono, serialized in Shinchosha‘s online manga magazine Kurage Bunch since 2018. It tells the story of Tatsu, a fearsome yakuza nicknamed the “Immortal Tatsu.” After marrying a working woman named Miku, Tatsu retires from the life of crime and becomes a househusband to support his wife. Though his intimidating appearance and personality seem to clash with the domestic work he does, he still earnestly does his best to be a good househusband for his wife.
In addition to the online serialization, Gokushufudo is also published in print collected volumes by Shinchosha and has reached 5 volumes at the time of this writing. A live action TV drama adaptation is planned to air in October 2020 on Nippon TV, and stars Hiroshi Tamaki as Tatsu and Haruna Kawaguchi as Miku.
