“Assault Lily: Bouquet” Anime Review: Can It be a Decent Starting Point for the Franchise?

Lastly, I want to highlight the theme songs of the anime. The opening song Sacred world feels epic and high-spirited, performed by BanG Dream! Project’s RAISE A SUILEN. I’m not going to lie, RAISE A SUILEN is probably the one who brought me to Assault Lily hype. They really make sure the fans would not be disappointed with the song. The opening theme successfully raises the hype and prepares the audience to sit throughout the episode with very high tension.

The episodes end with various different ending songs depending on the episode’s theme. The main ending theme, Edel Lilie, features in most of the episodes. It brought out the more dark side to the surface, fitting the theme of danger that is lurking behind Lilies’ work. The two other endings, Heart+Heart and GROWING*, brought out the more wholesome and happy side of the Lilies, thus giving the balance needed for the series to live on. All of the theme songs are available in various streaming services and worth to check out.

In the end, I must accept the fate that everything cannot always meet my expectation. The anime Assault Lily: Bouquet left me with a very mixed impression of the series. It has major problems, like the unfocused storyline and underdeveloped characters, which leads to an anti-climactic ending. Aside from that, this anime still can be a decent starting point for people who want to see how the world of Assault Lily looks like before this mixed-media project kicks off further. Now, let’s just sit here with a bottle of ramune, hoping that the next instalment in this mixed-media project can improve the story much better than Assault Lily: Bouquet anime had to offer.
