As previously reported, Indonesian comics publisher Elex Media Komputindo has teased Shaman King Complete Edition as one of the manga titles to be published in Indonesia in 2021. The first book has been confirmed to be shipped in the second week of September 2021 in that week’s list of new comic books releases.

As mentioned before, the book is in 2-in-1 omnibus format collecting two volumes from Kodansha‘s complete edition of Shaman King. The book is printed on book paper, and according to its product listing on Gramedia’s online store, retails for IDR 75,000 (about US$ 5.27).

Hiroyuki Takei‘s Shaman King follows a shaman named Yoh Asakura, who takes part in the Shaman Fight held every 500 years to become the Shaman King who is able to contact the Great Spirit. The series was originally serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump between 1998 and 2004 and was collected in 32 volumes. In 2017, Kodansha acquired Shaman King from Shueisha, re-releasing the series with 35 volumes with “true ending” and new cover arts from Takei. The series has been adapted into anime in 2001, and a new anime adaptation has aired from April 2021.

Elex Media had been in talks for the rights for Kodansha’s edition of Shaman King in October 2020. Previously, m&c! has published the Shueisha edition of Shaman King in Indonesia.

Elex Media Komputindo is a comics publisher under the Kompas-Gramedia Group. The publisher releases licensed foreign comics, including manga, and also Indonesian comics. Since 2005, Elex Media also published comics that intended for adult audiences under the Level Comics imprint.
