Synopsis
A strange supernatural phenomenon suddenly struck Shinjuku, where people suddenly turned into trees. At the request of a friend named Yuta, a girl named Mana sends a letter to summon a mysterious figure named Kitarou. Yuta believes that Kitarou can defeat the spirit (youkai) that caused the event.

Tanto Dhaneswara – KAORI Newsline
This new anime version of GeGeGe no Kitarou is fine to watch without having seen any of the older versions. Although only explained briefly, Kitaro and his father’s past are easy to catch up to. Mana Inuyama’s character as someone who was still skeptical of the youkai’s existence serves as a surrogate to the audience who are still not “familiar” with this anime. In addition, the “traditional” youkai tropes that has become the staple of the anime feel fresher when combined with more contemporary settings, such as a YouTuber (sounds familiar?) who became the culprit of the strange phenomenon in this episode.
As the first among some rebooted classic anime series debuting in this season, GeGeGe no Kitarou can be enjoyed by those who are still unfamiliar with the series and those who have watched the older anime anime (this anime still comes with that iconic opening song). Ready to go into the youkai worldi with Kitarou?
