Indonesian comics publisher m&c! has shipped the first volume of HIGEHIRO: After Being Rejected, I Shaved and Took in a High School Runaway manga to bookstores on 15 February 2023. The manga is published under m&c!’s mature comics imprint Akasha, with a suggested retail price of IDR 48,000 (about US$ 3.2).
Adapted from a light novel of the same name, Higehiro tells the story of Yoshida, an employee of a major IT company who feels depressed after his crush rejected him. Later, he meets a runaway high school girl, Sayu, and lets her spend the night at his house, feeling sorry for her. As Yoshida learns more of Sayu’s circumstances, he decides that he cannot kick her out, and decides to help by letting her stay.
The Higehiro light novel was first published by Shimesaba through Kakuyomu, a Japanese online novel platform, in March 2017. Later, Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko republished the novel in printed format, complete with illustrations drawn by booota. In November 2018, the novel was adapted into a manga series that is still running in Kadokawa’s Monthly Shōnen Ace magazine, with illustrations drawn by Imaru Adachi.
The light novel has also been adapted into an anime series. Manabu Kamikita served as the director for the anime, while the animation is produced by Project No. 9.
m&c! is an Indonesian comics publisher under the Kompas-Gramedia group.
