Coffee Talk Tokyo will retain the series’ signature relaxing visual novel style, where players take on the role of a café barista, serving customers while listening to their stories and learning about their backgrounds. This new instalment promises a similar vibe but introduces a fresh atmosphere, with Tokyo as its setting.
Embracing a strong Japanese aesthetic, Coffee Talk Tokyo features several notable changes from previous entries. Players will now run a café in Tokyo. This new Tokyo café will be filled with new decorations inspired by Japanese decor. The player will also interact with various creatures that are based on Japanese folklore, such as Yokai.
The game’s theme centres around the interaction between younger and older generations of Tokyo’s residents. Players will witness Yokai and other creatures sharing tables, exchanging experiences, and forming bonds within the warm, cosy atmosphere of the café.
Coffee Talk Tokyo is slated for release in 2025 on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Coffee Talk game series is set in a fictionalized version of our world. In the game, the earth is inhabited not only by humans but also by fantasy creatures like elves, succubuses, and aliens. Even so, life goes on normally, where all residents regardless of their kind mingle with each other while visiting coffee shops and sharing their stories.
The first game received a positive reception, highly praised as a relaxing yet fun adventure game rich with human interaction. It was also included in The Guardian’s list of best 2020 video games, along with Resident Evil 3 and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
