A Space for the Unbound is a game project from Indonesian game creators Mojiken Studio and Toge Productions. Now, after a long wait, even though it had stumbled upon problems, finally the game was officially released on 19 January 2023 for Steam, GOG.com, Epic Games Store, Nintendo Switch, Sony Playstation 4 & 5, and also Xbox Series X/S. This game has also been confirmed to be playable in Indonesian language. A Space for the Unbound was even included in the best game of 2023 by the British news site The Guardian and was nominated for The Game Awards 2023.
A Space for the Unbound is a game made by Mojiken Studio and Toge Productions. This game is a narrative and dialogue-based game similar to a visual novel. This game tells the story of Atma and Raya, 2 young people in search of their identities, until finally, a supernatural phenomenon appears that threatens world peace. To protect the world, they must go on an adventure to investigate their city, find several hidden secrets, and learn to understand each other, all delivered with a visual novel-style dialogue narrative.
The game itself comes with quite artistic graphics. Using 2D-pixel technology, this game comes with artistic graphics and evokes nostalgia resembling classic 2D games. Interestingly, the background of the ASFTU game is made in real-time so that it looks “alive”. Players can see the activities of city residents such as children playing jump rope, fathers sitting while reading newspapers, flocks of birds flying, cars and motorbikes passing by, to the movement of clouds, all displayed with classic 2D pixel graphics in real-time.
A Space for the Unbound is set in a suburban city with a nuance similar to Indonesia in the 1990s. Players will try to uncover several hidden secrets in the city, to interact with local residents. The public can try playing the prologue of the game that has been developed since 2015, where the prologue version is now available on Steam, and can be played in English, Japanese, Korean, Turkish, Polish, and Brazilian Portuguese, as well as Indonesian language.
