The second part of Bungo Stray Dogs continues the tale of confrontation between groups of people with supranatural powers in Yokohama.
After leaving viewers with the start of the three way war between the Armed Detective Company, the Guild, and the Port Mafia in episode 12 three months ago; episode 13 takes a bit of detour by adapting the story of Dazai’s past from the spin off novel: Kuro no Jidai. This story will still continue into episode 14, so viewers would still have to wait longer to see the actions of more Guild members. Literary fans might notice that the choice of Sakunosuke Oda and Ango Sakaguchi as Dazai’s companies in the Port Mafia is not without reasons. The three authors who inspired the characters are usually grouped together as the “Buraiha” or “Decadent School” because of the similarity of themes in their writings. Igarashi’s style of visual comedy still manage to slip a bit here, though for the most part the story is more serious and dark. (Halimun Muhammad – GM The Indonesian Anime Times)

Mainland was the most wealth and prospecturous nation in the Earth. In this nation everyone could achieve all of their dreams, determined by only one factor, edcation. Anyone who passed the university entrance exam could ensure their bright future. In this nation, there was annual National Special Level University Entrance Exam. In this exam, there are two kinds of students participated. The first one were those who dilligently studied since their childhood, the Learning Type (L-Type) student. The other ones were those who tried all their best to pass the test with anything they could do, including Cheating, those were called as Cheating Type (C-Type) students. This is the story where University Entrance Exam is the very serious things and there may be huge conflict surrounding those who cheat during the test.
Another Japan-Chinese anime which airs in this season. Cheating Craft is the 12 minutes length series which tells a unique story about the struggle of the students in an university entrance exam with anything they could do. The way where the students do their cheating during the test depicted in a hyperbolic and bizzare way. There are some students who cheat in the test with super-vision glasses, implant their skin with some trigonometrical formula, and even the super pen with tranquilizer to take down the guards. In a more extreme point, this anime tells you that university entrance exam is a super duper serious business with some volcano, tsunami, and the catastrophical battle engulf during the test. Just imagine the Captain Tsubasa or Inazuma Eleven magical things happened in an exam. Prepare yourself for the hyperbolic comedy which could make your brain freeze. Maybe this is what Chow Yun Fat looks like when he’s still in highschool, doing some cunning things in test before he do it in his gambling game. For you highschooler who gonna do the final exam or university entrance exam in next year, or maybe for you who want to reminds what does it like when you do your final exam or university exam, Cheating Craft with all of its’ bizzare and hyperbolic joke is ready to brighten up your day. Kanae and Sousuke are two friends who are equally fond of music with the contradictory. On her grandmother’s house, lived Mozart and Beethoven, two classical music composer who “come to life” as Classicaloid. They have the ability to play “Musique” which can summon a giant robot. Mozart ability to play the “Musique” began to attract the attention of other Classicaloid led by Bach.
In the premiere episode, ClassicaLoid presents a story that combines elements of comedy and drama that can not be guessed. This episode opens with the mess in the kitchen and the bedroom with accompanied by Beethoven’s “Ode To Joy”, then the story continues with the drama of the past between Kanae and Sousuke, and resolved with a slightly absurd climax, accompanied by Symphony No. 6 “Pastoral” in rock. Its comedy and drama may not seem so prominent in this episode, but the music (or … “musique”) of anime is what attract the author. Various of classical compositions are present in this anime (like Symphony No. 6 “Pastoral”) feels fresher because it is handled by a variety of leading Japanese music producer. Toyohisa Shimazu, a samurai from Shimazu clan of Japan, finds himself teleported inside a white mysterious room after the Battle of Sekigahara. After asking a mysterious man who is also inside the room, Toyohisa is sucked by a door, and teleported into a strange world filled with fantasical creatures and races. Branded as a Drifters, Toyohisa must join forces with another historical figures like Nobunaga Odan and Nasu no Yoichi, as they find themselves forced to fight the monster army led by the Ends.
Adapted from a manga by Kouta Hirano, the creator of Hellsing, Dirfter is filled with the usual characteristics of Hirano’s manga : blood, violence, weird comedy, and cool moments. But what differentiate Drifters from it’s predecessor, especially the Hellsing Ultimate OVA’s as they are made by the same staffs, is that Drifters has a faster actions and plots. With the Battle of Sekigahara opening the episode, we are already shown just how the actions are packed in this series. Clearly, this is the right choice of anime for those who wanted to enjoy a show filled with action and “cool” dialogues. (Marwa Hasani Pranata & Shofa Pranata – KAORI Newsline)
