Synopsis
As seasons unfold, so does a new chapter of the Book of Friends. This is the story of the once lonely boy, ostracised because of his “ability,” who has now found solace, Takashi Natsume. This is not a chapter of his encounter with his friends, nor with his solace. It is a chapter where Natsume nourishes the bonds that have been made. Step along in his journey as Natsume delves into the meaning of friendships, family, and home.

The animation of the opening sequence is so powerful and impactful, it makes some of the scenes in the show looks static in comparison. But that does not mean the first episode can not deliver honest emotions and invoke empathy. The scenes may look static, but when they do move, they deliver a lot. And the dialogues, especially, shows the character’s personality, even in the mundane dialogu. Above all, I was taken aback by Natsume’s narration. A subtle and beautiful way to show his perspective on human-youkai‘s relations.
All and all, it is a soothing craft one must watch.
