Synopsis
Five years ago, a group of mysterious hackers calling themselves Hanoi Knights raided the Cyverse. In that siege, the rescue forces failed to protect Cyverse and got trapped by the Hanoi Knights. During the chaos, a mysterious AI appeared. Ignis, the mysterious sentient AI tried to stop the siege by severing the connection and hid Cyverse somewhere else inside the network system. Five years since the attack, Ignis have become a fugitive pursued by the Hanoi Knights who wanted to know the exact location of Cyverse. SOL Technologies, the company which created a virtual system called Link VRAINS also searched for Ignis for their own purposes. Link VRAINS is a virtual world system where duelists prove their might in a card game duel. Inside the Link VRAINS, there was a rumour spread about a mysterious duelist named Playmaker who always fought back the Hanoi Knights.
The search for Ignis and the whereabouts of Cyverse continued, with both the Hanoi Knights and SOL Technologies clashing with each other for their own purpose. One day, when SOL Technologies were doing a scan to look for Ignis, Den City’s Link VRAINS system was attacked by the Hanoi Knights. During the attack, an ordinary high school boy named Yusaku Fujiki tried to look for Ignis. He needed Ignis to know about the truth behind the tragedy that happened to him five years ago. Yusaku finally caught Ignis and entered the Link VRAINS to fight back the Hanoi Knights.
