Indonesian private TV station Global TV brings back one of the popular classic anime, Captain Tsubasa Road to 2002 on air. The anime has begun airing since 22 May 2017, every Monday to Friday at 1200 to 1330 Western Indonesia Time.

As with other anime shown on Indonesian TV, Captain Tsubasa Road to 2002 is also dubbed into Indonesian language. For this broadcast, there are changes from the dub that has been aired in Indonesia previously. The main character Tsubasa Oozora, that had been voiced by  Hanis, Amir Cholili, Ade Basuki, Mohammad Romli, and lastly Mahindra Yudha Permana ini the past, will now be voiced by Leni M. Tarra. Meanwhile, Genzo Wakabayashi, previously voiced by Rio Fitra, is now voiced by Salman Borneo.

The anime Captain Tsubasa had been aired on several different TV stations in Indonesia, usually in the years when the association football World Cup was held. The first TV to air the anime was TV7 (Now TRANS7) which had shown the original series and “Road to 2002” around the time of 2002 World Cup. Then, at the time of 2006 World Cup, Lativi (now TV ONE) also aired Captain Tsubasa J. Then at the time of the 2010 World Cup, Global TV aired the original series of Captain Tsubasa. Lastly, ANTV shown “Road to 2002” series in 2011 and later 2014, at the time of the 2014 World Cup.
