Indonesian broadcaster Rajawali Televisi (RTV) is going to air a Chibi Maruko-chan movie for December 2020 holiday season. The TV station’s social media post on 20 December 2020 has revealed that the movie will be aired on Sunday morning, 27 December 2020 at 9.30 West Indonesia Time (UTC+7).
The movie to be shown is the first Chibi Maruko-chan movie that was first released in Japan in 1990. RTV’s post describes the story as being about Maruko’s second semester at school and her everyday activities with the classmates, Ono and Sugiyama.
Chibi Maruko-chan is based on a manga series by Momoko Sakura, serialized in Shueisha’s Ribon magazine from 1986 to 1996. The series tells about the daily life of a little girl named Momoko “Maruko” Sakura with her family and friends. A TV anime of the series aired from 1990 to 1992, before a second anime series aired from 1995 and is still ongoing.
RTV had aired Chibi Maruko-chan anime series since April 2018 with Indonesian dub produced at Erfass Studio, featuring Dewi Moe as Maruko, Wan Leony Mutiarza as Maruko’s mother, Harry Suseno as Maruko’s father, Ojay S. Surianata as Maruko’s grandfather, Nining Yuningsih as Maruko’s sister and others. This dub has also been put up on Chibi Maruko Chan – Bahasa Indonesia official YouTube channel from Goshen Media. The past Chibi Maruko-chan anime had also been aired in Indonesia on the TV station RCTI in the 2000s.
