After 2 years of being held as an online event, the organizers of the Japanese Film Festival (JFF) Indonesia announced that the 2022 event would be held offline again in cinemas. This year’s event will be held in three Indonesian cities: Jakarta, Makassar, and Bandung.

The event schedules for each city are:

  • Jakarta: From 3 to 6 November 2022 at CGV Grand Indonesia.
  • Makassar: From 18 to 20 November 2022 at CGV Panakkukang Square
  • Bandung: From 2 to 4 December 2022 at CGV Paris Van Java.

This will be the first JFF Indonesia event to be held as an offline event in quite some time, as the last JFF event held offline in Indonesia was in 2019. Since then, JFF events have only been held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The last JFF Online event to be held in Indonesia was earlier this year in February, where viewers could watch various Japanese films on the JFF website.

This year’s event will screen a total of 14 Japanese films, ranging from drama, comedy, mystery, to animation. The films will be screened with both Indonesian and English subtitles.

The Japanese Film Festival is an annual film screening event that focuses on showcasing Japanese films. As of 2019, JFF has been held in 12 countries across the world, including Australia, Russia, China, India, and many Southeast Asian countries, including Indonesia. Films screened at past events in Indonesia include One Cut of the Dead, Samurai ShiftersThe Tale of Princess Kaguya, and Mary and The Witch’s Flower.
