On Sunday, 14 May 2023, one of our staff had the opportunity to visit Kultiverse Festival Nakayochi. The event was held at Teater Terbuka Dago Tea House, Bandung from noon until evening. Aside from having a lineup of various music performers, Kultifest Nakayochi was also held in collaboration with Pesta Komik Bandung / PesKom Bandung (Bandung Comic Market) and became the event where the Bandung regional qualification for Indonesia Cosplay Grand Prix (ICGP) was held. Famous cosplayers, Clarissa Punipun and ELAINE, appeared as guest stars.
The staff was able to capture a little bit of the excitement of the event. From the entrance, visitors were greeted with an itasha exhibition.
Moving inside, visitors would encounter various stalls serving drinks and food, and selling merchandises. Going further into the venue, there were local creators’ booths presented in collaboration with Pesta Komik Bandung (PesKom Banduung).
An interesting sight was a Hololive ID third generation poll conducted at one of the booths. Using marbles, participants could choose which liver is their favourite.
And there was a somewhat sentimental feeling at the Nijisanji fanworks booths because 14 May 2023 happened to be the graduation day of Nijisanji Ex-ID liver, ZEA Cornelia.
Futher beyond into the venue, the main stage awaited the visitors. Various events like cosplay family competition, ramen eating competition, gijinka cosplay competition, and make up classes were held on the stage since noon. At dusk, the stage was filled with performances from different performers. The performance of 1000% Boyz‘s made the fangirls squeal, and Henohenomoheji really hyped up the event. The DJs’ music are such a bop to the ears.
The climax of Kultifest Nakayochi event was the Indonesian Cosplay Grand Prix (ICGP) qualification from Bandung region. The winner of ICGP Bandung will compete in the Grand Final in Jakarta in the following month. The judges for ICGP Bandung were cosplayers experienced in competition both at national and international levels, namely Kazu Hyun, Yumaki, Daruma, Wawa, and Soma.
Since the venue was an open stage, even though there was no rain in the afternoon, the cosplay performances for ICGP Bandung were a bit disturbed by the wind. The wind was strong enough to knock the props. The lighting was also better after dark, as it gave more effects on the setting of the performances. After all the cosplay performances were done, the visitors once again enjoyed music performances from various musicians. By the end of the event the results of ICGP Bandung are:
Best costume: Awan Merah Team (Dragon Ball Super)
Best story: Costuary Reborn Team (Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z)
Best performance: Sekogiri Team (Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War)
Grand finalist: Awan Merah Team and Costuary Reborn Team
The Grand finalists of ICGP bandung will compete in the Grand Final of ICGP in Jakarta, and the winner of the Grand Final will compete in the World Cosplay Summit in Nagoya.
