The latest Doraemon movie, titled Nobita and the Birth of Japan 2016 remake version is planned to be shown in Indonesia. It was revealed in database of Indonesia’s Board of Film Censorship (Lembaga Sensor Film/LSF) that this movie has been registered under PT. Sumber Usaha Film Indonesia. However, there is no further information yet on its precise release date.

Adapted from a Doraemon movie that was released in 1989, the story begins when an upset Nobita wished to run away from his home. Then Giant, Shizuka, Suneo and even Doraemon agreed to run away together for various reasons. To do so, they went back to the world of 70.000 years ago. In Indonesia, the comic version was published with the title of Doraemon Petualangan 9: Asal-Usul Negeri Jepang.

Doraemon was adapted from a comic series by Fujiko F. Fujioka. It tells the story of a future cat robot that was sent back to the past to help the ever-troubled Nobita with his fantastic gadgets. The anime version was produced by  Shin-Ei Animation Co., Ltd and was distributed by Toho Co., Ltd.

In Indonesia, Doraemon was released with license by PT Perdana IMMG Indonesia dan Animation International Indonesia. Elex Media Komputindo has been publishing the comic version since early 1990s, along with other Japanese comics. The animation series was aired almost simultaneously with the comics by the private broadcaster RCTI, which was currently under PT Hikmah & Chusen. Currently, the anime is airing every Sunday at 08.00 WIT (01.00 GMT) on RCTI.
