Winter 2017 Anime: ChaoS;Child

Synopsis

In 2009 there are some bizarre and mysterious murder case happened which was called as New Generation Madness, or so the netizen named them. The body of this New Generation Madness murder victims always found in a horrifying state. Nishijou Takumi, a Hikkikomori High Schooler was suspected as the one behind this incidents because he always been there in most of the crime scene right after the incident happened. Soon the people of Shibuya run after him to bring him to the justice, but right after he got caught in the crowd, there are some dazzling light shone upon Shibuya and then a huge earthquake reduced the city of Shibuya to rubble in a single night.

Six years passed after that mysterious earthquake, Takuru from the high school newspaper club was doing some investigation about some mysterious cases occured in Shibuya. When he was a child, Takuru was a survivor from the Shibuya earthquake six years ago. During his investigation, Takuru found out that there were many similarities between the cases he was investigating with the New Generation Madness six years ago. One day he decided to come to the crime scene where the mysterious murder took place, there he met with a girl from his school and she told Takuru that he would be the next murder target.

Right after Occultic;Nine in the end of 2016, now we have one more anime adapted from Chiyomaru Shikura’s story in this season. Chaos;Child is an anime series adapted from the sequel of Chaos;Head game which has been released since 2008. As a sequel game, the story in ChaoS;Child have some connection with its’ previous game. In the anime itself, the first episode has 1 hour special duration with the recap of ChaoS;Head stories in the first half. With this Episode 0 those who haven’t watched nor played ChaoS;Head before will be presented by the stories about what is happened at ChaoS;Head, although in my personal opinion this episode 0 misses some of the important part to this series such as what is Di-Sword, Gigalomaniacs, and the Noah-II, the epsiode 0 focus only on the New Generation Madess and the Shibuya earthquake, but these are sufficient enough as a prologue to explain the main theme in the first episode of ChaoS;Child.

For the story itselfs, ChaoS;Child still has the same roots with ChaoS;Head, a Delusional Scientific Adventure. If there are some time travel theories in Steins;Gate, Augmented Reality and giant robot in Robotics;Notes, ChaoS;Child mainly discuss about the mysterious and sadistic murder that really out of your minds. There’s nothing special in the visual of this anime unless the so much detailed and gruesome depiction of the murder victim in this anime. Itou Kanako also come back to sing the theme song in this anime which previously she always participated in other Chiyomaru Shikura’s project. For you who look up to some mystery with deep conflicts about conspiracy theories, Occultic;Nine might be suitable for you.
