Synopsis
During the third Fuyuki Holy Grail War, the most important item in the magical ritual, the Holy Grail was found by a master from the German forces. Long ago the German forces sent their armies to search for ancient arcane artifacts to help them win the war. But then the German forces were betrayed by the master who stole the Holy Grail he found for his own interests, and ended the third Fuyuki Holy Grail War. Following the theft, there were many pseudo-Holy Grail War waged all across the world. Soon the Yggdmillenia clan claimed that they have found the Holy Grail. The Yggdmillenia clan used the Grail to summon 7 servants, the forces who help 7 masters in a Holy Grail War. But the Grail itself has a failsafe system which allows for the summoning of 7 more servants if there were 7 servants controlled by single power. The Clock Tower mage association gathered another 7 mages as masters to summon servants as the Red Faction to fight back the Black Faction lead by the Yggdmillenia. The Great Holy Grail War where 7 masters versus 7 masters and their servants would soon begun.

The first episode of Fate/Apocrypha opens with four minutes of intense action scene with flashy yet adorably fascinating animation. The Fate series itselfs has been a part of Type-Moon universe for a long time and Fate/Apocrypha is not the first Fate story adapted into an anime series. But this doesn’t mean that the audience have to watch the previous Fate, Tsukihime, Kara no Kyoukai, or even Carneval Phantasm to understand the story in this series, although it’s a good idea to watch them in order to know what’s going on in the Type-Moon universe. In this first episode, there are some brief explanation about what is the Holy Grail War, and what is happened in the Fate universe to help new audience easily understand the story in this series. Last but not least, Fate/Apocrypha will be suited for your watch list in this season if you are a big fan of Fate Series, Egoist fans, or just want to look at some action anime with the hints of magical lore and historical legends.
