Nowadays, it appears easy to find people who exhibits otaku-ish interests anywhere. Those people are probably very passionate about their interests and devote plenty of their time for them. However, a hobby is only a portion of people’s life, after all, and there are times when it is necessary to interact with other people, like in aa norma daily life.

Shown as part of Fuji TV’s noitaminA slot, Wotakoi: Love is Hard for an Otaku tells the daily lives of some otaku who happen to work in the same place. It is a quite refreshing approach to the often bad stereotype otaku are portrayed with. The otaku in Wotakoi acts like real humans, struggling with life, earning money for living, socialising, but still making time for their hobby. For many otaku, especially for those who already has a job, it is easy to relate with the otaku characters in this anime.

Visually, Wotakoi is not really that special. However, this anime can show the other side of otaku that interesting to follow. There are some references from other anime, manga, or game that will probably make audience interested. This anime is recommended for them who looking for a romance comedy anime about otaku who still try to living their daily life while devoting to their hobbies.
