15. Sidonia no Kishi: Battle for Planet Nine

Melanjutkan musim pertamanya yang menakjubkan, pertempuran kapal Sidonia dengan alien Gauna berlanjut di musim keduanya ini. Dengan animasi yang lebih baik dari sebelumnya, petulangan pilot robot Gardes Tanikaze terasa lebih hidup, terutama dengan kehadiran alien Tsumugi didalam kelompok rekan pilotnya. Penuh dengan humor dan adegan pertempuran diluar angkasa yang menakjubkan, anime dengan genre sci-fi ini telah membuat anime ini menjadi salah satu anime terbaik tahun ini. (Marwa P.)

Knights of Sidonia, in a nutshell, share the same premises with Attack On Titan. Humans cooped in some kind of wall protecting them from the unknown enemy, the enemy has specific weakness, humans have cool weapons to fight them, and a hero. The difference is, instead of fantasy setting, this time it’s in SPACE, with ROBOTS!. Despite the show is underrated and using unortodhox approach using full 3D animations, they successfully delivering a great show. The interaction drama between Tsumugi the Chimera, which is a new type for a moe character, and with the pilot Tanikaze Nagato and the others was touching. the romance between Izana and Tanikaze gave us the breathing room with the romcom setting. The battle scene was breathtaking and the sound is amazing. Too bad Sidonia’s 2nd season ended in some kind of cliffhanger. I hope the 3rd season is coming soon so the aftertaste of the 2nd season will be cleared with it. (Naufal B.P)

14. Kagewani

Menyeramkan, menegangkan, dan seru! Ketiga hal itu cukup untuk menjelaskan anime pendek yang hanya berdurasi tujuh menit ini. Tanpa perlu bertele-tele dengan eksposisi membosankan, Kagewani berhasil menyuguhkan tontonan ‘monster horror’ yang mencekam namun membuat ketagihan para penonton. Dengan animasi yang dinamis tapi unik seperti potongan foto, Petualangan Prof. Banba menguak misteri para makhluk yang misterius ini telah menjadi salah satu anime terbaik tahun 2015. (Marwa P.)

The only short anime that made to this list, watching Kagewani is a unique experience. Created by the mind behind Yami Shibai, Kagewani manage to show a horror story that revolve around monster with unique and scary abilities. The horror is genuine. This show combine scary atmosphere with diverse cast of monster that prepared terrorize their target, make the viewer feel the tense atmosphere but at the same time curious to see how the character defeat the monster. Their ability to create suspenseful horror is the main strength of Kagewani, thus become the reasons why this show placed 14 in this list of best anime in 2015. Since it is only has 8 minutes length, you can probably check this out if you are looking for a show that offer unique monster, except if you are looking for the monsters that appears in monmusu. 13. Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku

Hachiman akhirnya pecah di Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Zoku. Seorang pemecah solusi yang banyak dimusuhi oleh kawan sekolahnya akhirnya mengakui bahwa kemampuannya telah berada di ujung tanduk. Anggota dari service club ini akhirnya (dan untuk pertama kalinya) meminta bantuan teman-temannya, Yuigahama dan Yukinoshita. Oregairu kedua memang difokuskan bagaimana hubungan Hachiman dengan kawannya semakin buruk karena solusi terbaiknya, seperti biasa, bukanlah solusi yang tepat dalam penyelesaian masalahnya. Hachiman yang selalu menyelesaikan masalah “dengan cara terbaik versi dirinya sendiri” akhirnya menjadi inti masalah dalam Oregairu. Hachiman yang dipandang menjadi ‘panutan para emo’ menyadari bahwa dirinya pun butuh bantuan. Polemik kehidupan yang realistis menjadi inti dari Oregairu. Esensi kehidupan yang manis asam pahit asin tergambarkan penuh pada anime satu ini. (Naufal B.P)

In its second season, the production of Ore Ga Iru was handled by Studio Feel, after previously handled by Brains Base. In my opinion, this is a positive change, because in Ore Ga Iru Zoku, the animation really shows a good progression through more fluid and consistent animation. Besides that, this anime is not as cheerful and hilarious as the first season. Maybe it is still funny, but the story mood depicted in Zoku is getting more gloomy each episodes. It is shown when Hachiman and his partners have to face their own problems while at the same time Volunteer Club has to solve other people’s issues, too. The gang really gets so confused and so uneasy about the situation, and I have to be honest, how this story resoluted is bitterly enchanting. Even though there are issues like moments that are felt a bit rushed and lessen down than its original source (light novel), in the end, Ore Ga Iru Zoku redefines a gloomy high-school ballad through impressive characteristics. Fast, Cool and Stylish, itulah tiga kata yang bisa menggambarkan anime besutan sutradara Rie Matsumoto yang terkenal dengan kelihaiannya melakukan adegan cepat serta studio Bones yang selalu menyajikan anime action yang keren. Kekkai Sensen pintar memadukan semua unsur mulai dari penokohan, latar tempat yang terinspirasi dari New York City lengkap dengan segala suasananya sampai, pengemasan action yang cepat dan menarik serta hal-hal kecil yang membuat cerita menjadi komikal dan membuat penonton terus penasaran dengan petualangan Leo serta kawan-kawannya dalam organisasi Libra. Kekkai Sensen juga membuktikan bahwa sebuah filler bisa menjadi sesuatu yang menarik dan jangan lupa dari segi musik mulai dari musik latar sampai musik pembuka serta penutupnya sangat mendukung anime ini sehingga mendapat atmosfir yang tepat. Bermain dengan atmosfir dengan cerita yang seru dan tidak kompleks merupakan salah satu kekuatan Kekkai Sensen dan membuat anime ini menonjol di musimnya. (Luthfi S.A)

It’s not the first time that an anime adapts 1940’s New York setting. Baccano has done it a while before Kekkai Sensen. Even though, they still are two great animes at handling this theme. A fresh impression is created through using new elements other animes never adapt. Things like its people, the way they dress, and even the fast food culture, are all shown attractively, making such setting is very unique and enjoyable. Other thing I like about Kekkai Sensen is its fantasy. Wild imagination appears anywhere through the series, even more thourough exposition is greatly needed to emphasize the universe better. Kekkai Sensen is an adaptation of ongoing manga, so I hope there would be the sequel season of this anime. Why would I want that? While this is a great eye-candy anime for its visual and many good things, so many characters are left unexplored, and I hope they will get their justice in the following season. (Daniel)

11. Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata

Saenai Heroine no Sodate-kata, atau disingkat sebagai Saekano merupakan salah satu anime yang tayang di blok Noitamina tahun ini yang hadir cukup berbeda dan unik. Pada awalnya anime ini mengisahkan perjuangan seorang pria, sebut saja Aki Tomoya yang berusaha untuk membuat game demi bisa dijual di Comiket, dalam membuat game tersebut, ia pun membutuhkan bantuan, dari para wanita-wanita yang tergabung dalam lingkar kreatif Blessing Software. Namun kisah di anime ini, tidak hanya sekedar usaha bagaimana Aki bisa menghasilkan sebuah game saja, anime ini juga menampilkan drama romansa khas anak-anak sekolahan dengan nuansa yang berbeda. Meskipun terkesan bahwa ini adalah kartun dengan stereotip “harem”, namun di Saekano penonton akan dibawa mendalami kisah masing-masing wanita yang ada di sekitar Aki Tomoya dan dihadirkan pula hubungan masing-masing karakter yang memiliki kompleksitasnya sendiri, bukan sekedar satu cowok dikelilingi banyak cewek dan bersenang-senang bagaikan dunia milik mereka saja. Sebagai sebuah anime drama romansa remaja, Saekano menghadirkan karakter yang cukup khas, Eriri Spencer Sawamura yang aktif dan cekatan namun malu-malu kucing, Utaha Kasumigaoka yang tegas nan menawan, serta Kato Megumi, perempuan pendiam, yang sangat biasa saja yang mana karakter dengan sifat seperti ini jarang dilibatkan dalam kisah drama remaja. Saekano adalah sebuah tayangan ringan yang mana anda tidak perlu pusing memikirkan soal “plot” dengan nuansa warna cerah yang juga semakin menambah kesan ringan seri ini. (Rafly N.)

One of the most sophiscated anime in 2015 with neither  became mainstream hit nor obscure enough as most light novel adaptation, Saekano has since gained cult followers months after it was ended. Telling the story of love, work, and passion, people can enjoy the character development of those around Aki Tomoya. Either the not-your-usual-tsundere Eriri, the assertive yet sentimental Utaha, and the most bland but the unexpected trait of Megumi, its success is not because the plot. The real strength of Saekano lies in its character development, the emotional bond developed between Aki and main heroines which stays faithfully as the novel’s plot, the same thing that empowers White Album 2, both written by Maruto Fumiaki. With these in mind, relax: if you like galge-esque story (pun intended), this is clearly for you. (Kevin W.)
