Synopsis
Hiromi Maiharu is a high school student who just moved from Nagasaki to Kamakura. Although she had not been riding a bicycle anymore since she was a child, Hiromi is still determined to ride a bike on her first day of school. Luckily, on the way she meets Tomoe Akitsuki who tried to teach her about cycling.

Winter 2017 brings not only one, but two anime with cycling theme (not counting Long Riders!, one of the fall 2016 anime which will be finished in February). Minami Kamakura Joshi Koukou Jitensha-bu (Minakama for short) begun broadcasting first before Yowamushi Pedal third season which will begin broadcasting on January 9th. The premiere episode does not introduce much plot that will be found in the upcoming episodes, other than introducing the two main characters, Hiromi and Tomoe. However, there is plenty of beautiful and colorful illustrations of Kamakura town. Bike enthusiasts will be satisfied because of the various bike models which appear in the anime are shown with their actual brands, not just “bland-name product”. Last but not least, for viewers who are curious about road bike, there is a segment at the end of each episode which discusses about road bike, guided by the voice casts of Minakama‘s main characters.
If Long Riders! presents the excitement of long-distance cycling and or Yowapeda features the thrill of road bicycle racing, it is interesting to see what would be presented by Minakama throughout the season.
