Bramantyo Wibisono – KAORI Newsline

This anime project had been promised for about 6 years, and in this anime project was promised, and in January 2018, this anime has finally been launched. This anime has been long-awaited by Redjuice fans, because he is the illustrator of the source novel. Redjuice was also the illustrator and designer of the famous anime Guilty Crown.

The first episode of BEATLESS anime begins with a meeting between the main character Arato and Lacia, a humanoid who has no ‘soul’. However, I will not comment much about the story to avoid spoilers. But to be sure, this is not another Guilty Crown, even if they share the same character designer .

The more important thing to note in this anime is the animation. Many fans had expressed disappointment when it was announced that the adaptation will not be handled by Production I.G., which worked on Guilty Crown. However, in the first episode Diomedea has answered fans’ doubts.

The five humanoid designs of Redjuice are adapted well into moving pictures by Diomedea. The characters look so expressive and subtle, even though Lacia appear poker-faced because that’s her character trait. And although BEATLESS features some mecha elements, some of the robots that appear in this anime are depicted with 2D drawings instead of 3DCG.

Additionally, let me discuss a bit about the voice casts. Unexpectedly, Nao Touyama, has done well to play the character of Lacia who lacks expressions. That is also a plus point to follow the BEATLESS anime.
