Synopsis
Yaichi Kuzuryuu successfully received Ryuuou, highest title in shogi, while still being 16 years old. However, he forgot about a promise with a girl in the final match when he get the title. And several months later, an elementary school girl named Ai Hinatsuru came to Yaichi’s house demanding him to fulfill the promise: to make her his disciple. At first, Yaichi doubted her ability. However after they did a trial match, it seemed that Ai has a hidden talent to play shogi.

While having the same topic, do not expect this anime to have similar story with March Comes in Like a Lion. Ryuuou no Oshigoto is a shogi-themed anime but with more otaku-oriented contents added, the obvious one being the loli girl who plays shogi. The interactions between the characters may remind you more of Ro-Kyu-Bu! or Tenshi no 3p!. While perhaps there will be some occassion where they will face some serious matches, it has established itself more as a comedy story in this beginning.
