Having released NisiOsiN’s Death Note spin-off novel Death Note: Another Note – The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases , Indonesian publisher m&c! will release another work related to NisiOisin. On Monday (7/1), m&c! has announced on its social media that it will release the manga The Memorandum of Kyoko Okitegami which adapts NisOisin’s Forgetful Detective (Boukyaku Tantei) series. The series stars Kyoko Okitegami, a female detective whose memory always reset after she goes to sleep. The exact release date and price for the manga has not been revealed yet.
The series tells the story of Yakusuke Kakushidate, an unlucky young man who is always wrongly accused of committing crimes that occur around him. Because of that, Kakushidate always asks for help from Kyoko Okitegami, a famous detective who could solve all cases quickly. However, Okitegami is also known for her unique trait: her memories only last for one day, which leads to her nickname “The forgetful detective”.
The first novel of the series is published with the title The Memorandum of Kyoko Okitegami (Japanese title: Okitegami Kyoko no Biboroku). The novel was released on 14 October 2014 by Kodansha with illustration by VOFAN. The series has 11 books with latest volume released on 5 October 2018.
The series has already adapted into a manga series and a live action TV series. The manga, which is illustrated by You Asami, is serialized in Monthly Shounen Magazine from August 2015 to March 2017, and lasted with 19 chapters in total. The live action TV series adaptation was broadcasted by NTV, starring Yui Aragaki as Kyoko Okitegami.
