As one of popular culture icon, cosplay has became a favoured hobby in Indonesia. Not only among Japanese pop culture fans, this hobby has also been favoured among comics and animation fans, whether it is from Western or Eastern series.  Even now, cosplayer from Indonesian comics and animation has also appeared. In this August, two Indonesian cosplayers are honoured to participate in the biggest cosplay competition in the world, the World Cosplay Summit (WCS) 2016.

This year, two talented Indonesian cosplayers from Jakarta,  Rian Cyd dan Frea Mai, are selected to be Indonesia’s representatives in the event that will be held in Nagoya. In order to support them, as well as to observe how WCS is conducted this year, KAORI is cooperating with official WCS Indonesia to hold Live Viewing of WCS event on August, 6-7 2016.

Followed by Panel Discussion: “Reaching the World Cosplay Summit” by representative from CLAS:H/ICGP organizer, Sunday, August 7, 2016 after screening of WCS Grand Final.

Located on the 6th floor of Blok M Plaza, Bulungan, South Jakarta, this is an official live viewing event that cooperates with WCS Indonesia. The live viewing will be done through NicoNico Live streaming network. Aside from that, on that day we will also conduct Skype connection from Jakarta to Japan, that is also connected to WCS in Nagoya.

The event will be held in two days. On Saturday, there will be a final elimination for best 15 from the 30 teams that compete. While on Sunday wil be the competition to decide the champion. This event is included as a part of Road to Kaori Expo, and will start from 2 p.m until done.

World Cosplay Summit is an annual cosplay championship that started on 2003. On 2012 and 2014, Indonesian team successfully got their third place in that competition. This year WCS still will be held in Nagoya with a total of 30 countries participating. Hope that Indonesia will get their best!
