The official Facebook page of C3 AFA announced on Wednesday (2/8) that Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans will be one of the featured anime at C3 AFA. Yasuaki Takumi, who voiced Altland Akihiro in the anime, will also be present on the main stage. Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans will be joining the lineup of featured anime which consists of Black Butler: Book of Atlantic, Frame Arms Girl, Fate/Apocrypha and Kemono Friends.
Further details on C3 AFA Jakarta official website also reveals that the anime and the voice actor will be featured on the Main Stage of C3 AFA Jakarta 2017 on Sunday (20/8).
Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans is a 50-episode anime produced by studio Sunrise. It was directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai, who worked on Toradora, and written by Mari Okada, who worked on Kiznaiver. The anime started to be aired on 4 October 2015 until 27 March 2016 for its first season, airing 25 episodes. Having paused for a while, the anime continued again for its second season on 2 October 2016 until 2 April 2017 for the last 25 episodes. There was once a great conflict known as the “Calamity War.” Roughly 300 years have passed since the end of this war.
The Earth Sphere had lost its previous governing structure, and a new world was created under new systems of government. While a temporary peace had arrived, the seeds of a new conflict were being sown in the Mars Sphere, far away from Earth.
Our hero, a boy named Mikazuki Augus, belongs to a private security company called Chryse Guard Security (CGS). The company accepts a mission to escort Kudelia Aina Bernstein, a girl who seeks to liberate the Martian city of Chryse from the rule of one of Earth’s major powers. However, the military organization Gjallarhorn attacks CGS in order to nip this rebellion in the bud. CGS begins an evacuation, using Mikazuki and the other children as decoys.
Orga Itsuka, the leader of the boys, decides to take this opportunity to rise up in revolt and launch a coup d’état against the adults who have been oppressing them. He gives Mikazuki the task of repulsing Gjallarhorn, and Mikazuki enters battle using the Gundam Barbatos, a mobile suit from the Calamity War era which has been serving as CGS’s power source.
Yasuaki Takumi is a 34-year-old voice actor who was born in Aichi Prefecture on 23 October 1982. He has voiced in many anime as various type of characters, from minor characters to notable ones. Some of those characters are Edgar C. Blanche from Knight’s & Magic, Gakuto Kase from Gamers!, and Tsukasa Mizugaki from Plastic Memories. He also voiced non-anime characters such as Minoru Inoue from Persona 4: Dancing All Night and Shiro from Fire Emblem Fates which both are video games. Aside from being voice actor, he also worked as TV personality.
