Synopsis

Nasa Yuzaki hates his name because people always associate it with NASA, the US aerospace agency. Thus, he studied and worked hard in order to get people to think he’s much greater than that NASA. One day, he meets a really beautiful girl, and that first sight changed the course of his life. Unfortunately, he gets an accident just before he could talk to her. Although badly hurt, he still forces himself to ask her out anyway, and the girl agreed, with the condition that they would get married.

For several years after that incident, that girl never comes up again. However, on the day of his 18th birthday, she suddenly appears at Nasa’s apartment door and asks him to fill the marriage form. This is the story of their marriage, and how their relationship develops from there.

It’s common for love stories to start from two strangers, who, through the course of the story, come to like each other, until it ends happily ever after with marriage. However, TONIKAWA takes a different approach in telling a love story: instead of making marriage as the end point, Kenjiro Hata (the comic’s creator) makes it the starting point of the story.

The first episode shows what more often seen in the epilogue of other romance anime: they start living together, embarrassingly say each other name, hold hands, and so on. But this isn’t a “happily ever after” thing, it’s just the start. And that is what makes this anime worth to watch: is it really interesting to watch a couple after the “end point” of romance? What kind of story can it offer? So far, as someone who had watched Hayate no Gotoku before, it is still interesting and funny to watch. It still has the same parody gags that used to make up Hayate no Gotoku.

That aside, the opening song is also dope. I never thought that such a romantic comedy show could have that kind of upbeat opening song. It is also unique to see the concept of the opening animation, with that split-screen fast-changing scenes that match the beat of the song.
