On Wednesday (24/8), Mojiken Studio and Toge Productions announced that they’ll delay the development of their upcoming game A Space for the Unbound. On their official announcement, they stated that one of the game publishers, PQube, has used Mojiken Studio and Toge Productions’ status as Indonesian game developers to obtain a diversity fund without their knowledge.

Mojiken Studio and Toge Productions explained that the fund was intended to help underrepresented game developers, especially during pandemics. However, PQube intentionally withheld the information about the grant instead of giving the fund to the developers. Because of this, Mojiken Studio and Toge Productions opted to terminate their contract with PQube.

On the announcement, Mojiken Studio and Toge Productions also reported that PQube refused to hand over the console’s publishing control back to them. Initially, A Space for the Unbound was planned to be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2022.

PQube is known as the publisher of some Indonesian games. Prior to A Space for the Unbound, PQube also published Studio Namaapa’s Ciel Fledge, Twin Hearts’ Kitaria Fables, and Agate’s Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story series. PQube is also listed as the publisher for the upcoming Indonesian game Potion Permit, which is developed by MassHive Media.

A Space For The Unbound is a point-and-click adventure game set in the late 90s rural Indonesia. It tells the adventure of Atma, a high school boy who can dive into someone else’s mind. The demo version of the game is currently available on Steam and itch.io.

According to the development log, the game was originally created in 2015 during the developers’ internal game jam session. From that session, Mojiken Studio developed the game and released first prototype of the game, titled A Space for the Unbound – The Bridge, on Mojiken Studio’s itch.io.
