After the Indonesian superhero comic Nusantaranger was rebranded into NusaV (Nusa Five) in collaboration with Shogakukan Asia, there has been no information when the new comic will be released. However, on 15 June 2017, the comic artist Sweta Kartika, One of the creators of Nusantaranger, teased on his Twitter account that NusaV will be released “very soon”.

Nusantaranger is a web comic that tells the story of five Indonesian boys who become superheroes after they receive special powers from Indonesia’s five great islands. They have to fight Kelana, an evil entity who wants to control Marcapada. This comic was first released in 2014. The comic immediately became popular on the internet and attracted some interest from international audience. The comic has a pretty big fanbase, which were called Jagawana (a Sanskrit term which means “protectors of the forest,” and used in Indonesia to refer to forest rangers).

Previously, the Nusantaranger team had announced that they planned to collaborate with an international publisher to release a brand new series which will still be inspired by Nusantaranger concept, but with a new format and original story.

Shogakukan Asia also showcased NusaV and their other books in Frankfurt Book Fair event in 2016.

Sweta Kartika is one of the most prolific young comic artists in Indonesia. Among his many projects other than Nusantaranger are the superhero comic Wanara, and the romance comic Grey & Jingga, both of which are published by m&c!. Grey & Jingga has also been licensed by Japanese digital publisher Comic Catapult. Since 2016, Sweta also serialised the action-romance comic Spalko in the comics magazine re:ON.
