Synopsis
In the future, boxing has entirely evolved into a new sport called Megalobox, where athletes wear a specialized equipment fitted with Gear technology to make them stronger and enhance their strength. Junk Dog is a Megalobox athlete, who often participates in illegal matches to make a living. His encounter with Megalobox champion Yuri will soon change his life.
Comments
Megalobox was announced during the 50th anniversary of legendary manga series Ashita no Joe. Inspired from Ashita no Joe itself, Megalobox offers rough and brutal boxing action. Those who are familiar with Ashita no Joe/Boy might see some resemblance between Junk Dog and Joe Yabuki, especially their rude and reckless attitude. Junk Dog’s “manager”, Nanbu Gansaku, also has that similar look to that of Danpei Tange, Joe’s trainer and manager.
The first episode of Megalobox shows us Junk Dog’s struggle for survival in the underground Megalobox ring. While the first half of the episode is relatively slow, the second half quickly picks up the pace where Junk Dog met Yuri, the current Megalobox champion. If you are looking for hard-boiled sports action, Megalobox is your best bet.
