On Friday (6/12), Odex Indonesia has announced that the new Digimon Adventure sequel film, Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna will be screened in Indonesia. Odex Indonesia has posted the trailer of the film on Instagram with the caption “coming soon in 2020”. The exact release date has not been announced yet.
Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna is the sequel to Digimon Adventure Tri and is made to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Digimon franchise. The new film will not only feature the chosen kids from the first anime series but also from the second generation who has grown up. The voice casts of Digimon Tri films will reprise their roles in the new film. The new film is also mentioned to be the last adventure of Taichi and Agumon.
Beside the new anime film, there is also a series of short anime being prepared called Digimon Adventure Memorial Story Project that includes five shorts telling side stories from Digimon Adventure series. Here are the titles of five short Digimon Adventure Memorial Story anime:
- Sora e (To Sora or Towards the Sky)
- Kokoro no Ana (A Hole in the Heart)
- Igakusei Joe Kido (Medical Student Joe Kido)
- Akogare no Jogress Shinka
- A secret title
Digimon is a mix-media project that was first launched in Japan in 1997. This project was first presented in the form of simulation toys where players take care of digital creatures. The first anime series, titled Digimon Adventure, aired in 1999, then continued with a sequel titled Digimon Adventure 02 which aired a year later. These two anime have been aired in Indonesia by Indosiar.
The story of Taichi and the chosen kids then goes on to the Digimon Adventure Tri film series, from 2015 to 2018 with six films screened in theaters. Created to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Digimon franchise, Taichi and his friends are now in high school. The first film of this series was also screened in Indonesia in August 2016.
