Indonesian comic book publisher Elex Media Komputindo has previously teased to release Reiji Miyajima‘s Rent-A-Girlfriend manga in Indonesia. On Tuesday (17/11), the Twitter account of Elex Media’s editors of comics has posted the design for the Indonesian version of the manga’s cover. The Indonesian version of the manga will be titled Kanojo, Okarisimashu: Rent-A-GirlFriend and it will be released under Elex Media’s Level Comics mature comics imprint. The post also mentions that the manga is projected to be released in Indonesia around the end of January 2021 or around Valentine’s day that year.

The publisher has first revealed they have licensed the manga June in a list of manga that Elex Media’s editors have received as digital files that was posted on Twitter. In the list, Rent-A-Girlfriend was listed along with Interview with Monster Girls (Demi-chan wa Kataritai), new volumes of Real Account and The Quintessential Quintlupets (Gotoubun no Hanayome) and many other titles.

Rent-A-Girlfriend tells the story of Kazuya Kinoshita who tries a rental girlfriend service app after being dumped by his girlfriend. Through that app, he meets Chizuru Ichinose who would be his girlfriend for a certain period. Things become complicated when Chizuru meets Kazuya’s grandmother, who is also treated in the same hospital as Chizuru’s grandmother. Moreover, it turns out that they actually go to the same university and live in the same apartment.
Serialized since 2017 in Weekly Shounen Magazine, Rent-A-Girlfriend has been collected into 17 volumes of tankoubon so far. A TV Series anime has also aired from July 2020 to September 2020. The spin-off manga titled Kanojo, Hitomishirimasu also has been published since June 2020.
Elex Media Komputindo is a comics publisher under the Kompas-Gramedia Group. The publisher releases licensed foreign comics, including manga, and also Indonesian comics. Since 2005, Elex Media also published comics that intended for adult audiences under the new imprint called Level Comics.
